Joao Paulo is a community organizer, digital communication specialist, and translator for asylum seekers. Alongside his work as the co-director for Housing and Community Development at the Austin Justice Coalition, he currently serves on the city’s Planning Commission, the Citizens Police Review Commission, and the leadership of ‘Planning Our Communities.’
Drawing on his background and upbringing in Brazil, Joao Paulo focuses on housing and mobility justice, long-term anti-displacement policy, and champions equitable, inclusive system design. On Saturdays, he is also a youth mentor for the Higher Learning Program. Personal interests include record collecting, speculative fiction, architecture, and autonomous design.
