Joao Paulo is a community organizer, digital communication specialist, and translator and interpreter for asylum seekers. Currently director of Housing and Community Development at the Austin Justice Coalition, Joao Paulo focuses on housing and anti-displacement policy.
Drawing on his background and upbringing in Brazil, as well as his work as an interpreter in underserved communities, he collaborates with community members to build strategies for resilience and economic justice. On Saturdays, he is also a youth mentor for the Higher Learning Program. Personal interests include policy, history and literature, record collecting, and digital and visual communication.
