Sukyi provides strategic planning and direction for AJC’s policy team, which develops and advocates for racial equity policies at the local, state, and national levels. Sukyi is the Founding Chairwoman of the board, and she has served in several fundamental roles throughout AJC’s history to help bring the organization into its maturity.
On the national scale, Sukyi is a Senior Consultant at Columbia University Justice Lab’s Square One Project. She lends her expertise to local roundtables around the country that bring together community leaders, academics, and other experts to spark transformational thinking about racial reckoning and justice policy. Prior to this position, she was the Manager of the Roundtable on the Future of Justice Policy for the Square One Project.
Previously, she served as Policy Coordinator at Just Liberty, a bipartisan 501c(4) organization dedicated to comprehensive criminal justice reform in Texas. She draws from decades of experience in the writing and editing industry and as an entrepreneur. She has owned and operated two local black-owned businesses, Forte Resume Service and Fifth Dimension Books, and has collegiate literature and writing courses at Texas State University – San Marcos and Texas A&M University – Central Texas.
She has a B.A. in literature from Texas Tech University and a M.A. in literature from Texas State University.
