Kendra Garrett
Kendra provides leadership for AJC’s Complete Communities Initiative and is part of the AISD Focus Team. Leaving corporate America after a decade, Kendra knew she wanted to be of use in her community. Inspired by and standing on the shoulders of her fellow community organizers and activists, past and present, she strives to help build trust starting at the block level and to help people realize they have more power than they believe they have. She believes, collectively, we can have an equitable, just society that values all people equally.
Kendra works for the Texas Affiliation of Affordable Housing Providers as the Policy & Regulatory Manager. Her experience in the public, private, and nonprofit sectors has sharpened her policy and research skills to determine the best ways to create accessible and thriving communities – with a housing-first focus. She holds a Bachelor’s of Science in Chemical Engineering from The University of Texas (Austin) and a Master’s degree in Public Affairs from The University of Texas’ Lyndon B. Johnson School of Public Affairs.
