Radical Advocates Academy
Radical Advocates Academy (RAA) is a year-long paid program starting in October 2022 that will train aspiring advocates on how to effectively organize and manage policy campaigns with the intent to enhance the advocacy capacity and effectiveness of not just AJC, but the community overall.

Why Start a Radical Advocates Academy?
The many intertwined issues that impact Black and Brown Austinites require constant engagement to materially improve people’s lives in Austin and fight oppression. Building capacity within the community to effectively organize and advocate for racial justice across these issues while centering people directly impacted will help propel our efforts to end oppression.
Why Join the Radical Advocates Academy?
By joining RAA, participants will:
- Help AJC defeat harmful policies and advance helpful policies at the local and state levels that improve conditions and reduce the oppression of people of color in our community, especially Black people,
- Organize with community members directly impacted by these issues in a way that supports lasting connection and centers lived experience,
- Determine whether to pursue full-time employment in nonprofit advocacy, and
- Learn how to organize and advocate for your community to fight oppression and work toward liberation.
