“WE’RE STILL HERE!” City-Wide Black Community Photoshoot

While the current narrative surrounding Black life in Austin, TX is dismal, we would like to highlight and document our presence in a more affirmative, positive way.

While the cost of living, lack of Black cultural spaces, and the legacy of policies such as the 1928 Master Plan have all contributed to the erasure and displacement of Black bodies in the city we want to remind not only the powers that be but our community as well that WE’RE STILL HERE!

This is why we cordially invite every Black person in the Austin, TX city limits to join us on Saturday, Feb. 18 2023 at Givens Park for a historic moment. We are asking as many Black city residents to join us for a city-wide community photo shoot to remind everyone of our presence in a town that continues to disregard our existence. This event will begin promptly at NOON and will be a family, kid-friendly event.

The only thing we need from you is your presence. There is no dress code, and no need to pre-register for the event. We literally just need you to show up and be prepared to smile and pose for the cam!

There will be multiple Black photographers and videographers on hand to document this joyous occasion and the content produced will be shared widely and available to the public.

The event is finished.
